Physiotherapy isn’t only about managing a particular condition. It may also help you do more of the things that matter to you, whether that’s moving around your home more safely, participating in activities you enjoy, maintaining your physical capacity, or becoming more independent.
Your physiotherapy program will depend on your needs and NDIS goals, but may include:
Work on walking, transfers, balance, coordination, and functional movement.
Aim to build strength, endurance, flexibility, and physical capacity through targeted exercises.
Work towards the physical skills and confidence needed for everyday activities.
Use movement, exercise, and other evidence-based strategies to potentially manage pain and improve function.
Your physio can recommend appropriate supports or equipment, if needed.
Your physio will monitor changes in your function, review your goals, and adjust your treatment as your needs change.
Where appropriate, physiotherapy may also involve working with family members, support workers, or other allied health services in your care team. This helps ensure the strategies you’re working on carry through into everyday life.
Your first appointment will focus on understanding you, not just addressing a diagnosis. From there, we aim to develop a practical physiotherapy plan that reflects your goals and the way you live.
We’ll talk about your goals, current abilities, challenges, and relevant medical or disability history. We’ll assess areas such as strength, mobility, balance, pain, and physical function to understand where physiotherapy may help.
Together, we’ll set practical goals and decide which, if any, physiotherapy strategies will be most appropriate. This may include hands-on treatment, mobility work, strengthening, balance exercises, functional training, or a personalised exercise program.
Your treatment will evolve as you progress. We’ll monitor your function, adjust your program when needed, and communicate with your support team (where appropriate and with your approval). We can also prepare reports and other documentation when required.
Depending on your circumstances and goals, physiotherapy may also include:
These services can work together as part of a broader physiotherapy approach, rather than being treated as separate parts of your care.
Is physiotherapy covered under your NDIS plan? Let’s work towards your goals together.
You won't be passed between a large team of practitioners. Your designated physiotherapist delivers your care directly, so you can build familiarity and trust over time.
NDIS participants are an important part of what we do, but we aren’t an NDIS-only practice. We support people of different ages, abilities, and funding types, bringing broad physiotherapy experience to every client.
You can access physiotherapy at our South Melbourne clinic. We also offer mobile appointments in Edithvale and surrounding Melbourne south-east suburbs if travelling to our clinic is difficult.
They provide physiotherapy designed to support an NDIS participant’s functional needs and goals. Depending on the individual, this may involve improving mobility and strength, managing pain, developing physical capacity, supporting independence, providing exercise programs, assessing assistive technology needs, or preparing physiotherapy reports.
YouGo Physio offers both clinic-based appointments in South Melbourne and mobile physiotherapy for suitable clients across Edithvale and surrounding suburbs. The most appropriate option depends on your needs, goals, mobility, access to transport, and the type of support you’re looking for. In some cases, an assessment in your home environment may also provide useful information about how you move and manage everyday activities.
Physiotherapy for NDIS participants is generally provided under the Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living budget category when it’s related to improving functional capacity and supporting a participant’s goals. Your individual funding and plan determine what supports are available to you, so if you’re unsure whether physiotherapy is appropriate, we’re happy to discuss your circumstances.
You don’t necessarily need a referral to access physiotherapy. If you’re accessing treatment through the NDIS, we’ll discuss your plan, funding arrangements, and goals during the intake process to ensure the service suits your needs.
Yes. We can prepare physiotherapy reports for a variety of purposes, such as documenting functional needs, monitoring progress, supporting NDIS plan reviews, or providing clinical recommendations. Yes, a personalised exercise program can form an important part of NDIS physiotherapy. Exercises may focus on strength, balance, flexibility, endurance, mobility, or functional tasks, depending on your individual goals. Your program will be designed around your abilities and can be adjusted as you progress.
Yes. With your consent, your physiotherapist can communicate with relevant support workers, carers, family members, and other members of your team. This can help everyone understand your goals and support the strategies you’re working on between physiotherapy sessions.
YouGo Physio offers clinic-based physiotherapy in South Melbourne alongside mobile physiotherapy services, giving you greater flexibility in how and where you access care. Clinic appointments provide a dedicated space for assessment, management, and exercise, while mobile appointments bring physiotherapy into your home environment.
For some NDIS participants, receiving physiotherapy at home may also help their physiotherapist understand how they manage everyday activities and identify practical ways to support greater independence. Whichever option suits your needs, you’ll receive personalised care focused on clear communication and your individual goals.
Your care should be about more than completing exercises or attending appointments. It’s about finding practical ways to move more comfortably, build your physical capacity, and work towards the things that matter to you.
